Tempura

Tempura @ Rasa Malaysia
I have always loved and admired the blog Rasa Malaysia. I am so happy that there is someone out there preserving and cultivating the interest on Malaysian cuisine. Bee has had for many years blogged and trialed Malaysian recipes, successfully expanding the palates of many people. I am only just appreciating Malaysian food. Sometimes it takes someone like me to be far from home to want a piece of home.
Rasa Malaysia occasionally features guest bloggers. It’s a great way to know who is who on the foodblog stratosphere. I wrote to Bee asking if I could be one of her guests and she generously agreed. I also thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for us to get to know the face behind Rasa Malaysia. So I prepared an interview ala The Age style.
This is Bee, food blogger of Rasa Malaysia:
My earliest memory is… when I fell down from climbing up the gate in front of our house and dislocated my right arm. Ouch!
At school I was… always scared of boys who was “in like” with me. They would look at me in a strange way, corner me and harass me. I was so miserable that boys liked me so I combed my hair in an ugly way so they would not like me anymore. ![]()
I wish I had done… certain things when I was younger. I regret some decisions I had made.
I’m very bad at… baking. I love eating cakes and such but don’t have the patience to follow proper instructions when it comes to baking. Too much work!
My happiest moment were… when my late parents come to stay with us in San Francisco. They came for 6 weeks and I was able to really take care of them during their stay. That was the happiest moment of my life.
Thank you Bee for giving me a chance to work with you. You have no idea how big an honour it has been for me. May your efforts continue to take you places so people will learn what an exquisite and fine thing Malaysian food is.

Ah, tempura! When I first met my husband, his father, who is Japanese by decent, made us this amazing plate of tempura. I have forevermore been hooked! Thank you for the link in your blogroll, Mable. I will add your beautiful blog to mine. xo
Hi Sarah!
Hope you’re fully recovered from your cold. There’s nothing more special than a plate of tempura prepared by a Japanese person.
Aww, thanks for adding me on your own charming blog Sarah. Let me know when you post about the low-fat ricotta cheesecake! (has it something to do with the special project?)
XOXO,
Mabs
